Marc-Baumann-Digital-Marketing-Leader

Marc Baumann is a passionate Digital Marketing Leader with 15 years experience who has driven impactful marketing programs for Fortune 500 companies (Amazon, Viacom and Scripps) as well as hyper-growth start-ups (Square, Plaid and Opendoor), building organic marketing teams and processes from scratch.

As the Head of Organic Growth & SEO at San Francisco-based Fintech company Plaid, he currently spearheads all Organic channels, with a focus on scaling strategic content development and search engine optimization in the U.S. and internationally.

Prior to that, he developed and implemented the company’s first content marketing and organic search strategy as the Head of Content & SEO at property technology company Opendoor, also driving social media outreach, influencer marketing and closely collaborating with Product Marketing, Brand Marketing, PR/Comms and Engineering.

Prior to Opendoor, he built Organic Marketing teams and processes from the ground up as the Global Head of Content & SEO at financial technology company Square, and drove the international content and search engine optimization roadmap, including market launches in Japan, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom.

Prior to Square, he worked as a Global Digital Marketing Manager & Strategist at Amazon.com for 4 years, spearheading large-scale content and SEO initiatives, supporting product launches (Kindle, Amazon Fashion, AWS etc.) and international market expansions in Asia, Latin America, and Europe.

Marc’s passion for content and storytelling has its roots in his professional background in journalism. As a U.S. West coast correspondent for Financial Times, he contributed numerous articles about news and trends in information technology, new media, and e-commerce, including interviews with Jeff Bezos, Roy Disney, and Francis Ford Coppola.

Marc graduated in Business Economics from the University of Zurich (Switzerland), studied at the University of Cambridge (English) and UC Santa Barbara (communications & journalism) and holds a certificate for Advanced Search Marketing from the Search Engine Academy in Los Angeles.

He resides in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, where he enjoys hiking, biking, photography and creative writing in his spare time.
